SELECTING A SUITABLE NAME FOR THE CHILD :

Choosing the first letter of the first name :

This can be done in two ways :

(1) As per the Nakshatra-charan of the Moon which will be suggested on clicking option.

Or :

(2) As per the Ascendant-sign which will also be suggested on clicking option.

The former method is more popular in the North Indian states whereas the latter method is more popular in the East Indian states. In some cases, however, it is the usual practice to choose two different names; the name chosen has the first letter as per either of the above two methods is mentioned in the horoscope only while an entirely different name is selected for general use whose first letter is different from either of these two methods

Choosing the first letter as per the Ascendant sign :

If the Ascendant Sign is Leo (Sign no. = 5), then the first letter will be any of the 12 vowels used in our zonal languages : A, Aa, I, Ee, U, Oo, Ri, Li, E, Ai, O, Ow.

If the Ascendant Sign is Aries (Sign no. = 1), then the first letter will be the first or the third letter of Ka-varga -- that is, Ka or Ga.

If the Ascendant Sign is Scorpio (Sign no. = 8), then the first letter will be the second or the fourth letter of Ka-varga -- that is, Kha or Gha.

If the Ascendant Sign is Libra (Sign no. = 7), then the first letter will be the first or the third letter of Cha-varga -- that is, Cha or Ja.

If the Ascendant Sign is Taurus (Sign no. = 2), then the first letter will be the second or the fourth letter of Cha-varga -- that is, Chha or Jha.

If the Ascendant Sign is Gemini (Sign no. = 3), then the first letter will be the first or the third or the fifth letter of Ta-varga (Hard) -- that is, Ta or Da.

If the Ascendant Sign is Virgo (Sign no. = 6), then the first letter will be the second or the fourth letter of Ta-varga (Hard) -- that is, Tha or Dha.

If the Ascendant Sign is Sagittarius (Sign no. = 3), then the first letter will be the first or the third or the fifth letter of Ta-varga (Light) -- that is, Ta or Da.

If the Ascendant Sign is Pisces (Sign no. = 12), then the first letter will be the second or the fourth letter of Ta-varga (Light) -- that is, Tha or Dha.

If the Ascendant Sign is Aquarius (Sign no. = 11), then the first letter will be the first or the third or the fifth letter of Pa-varga -- that is, Pa or Ba or Ma.

If the Ascendant Sign is Capricorn (Sign no. = 10), then the first letter will be the second or the fourth letter of Pa-varga -- that is, Pha or Bha.

If the Ascendant Sign is Cancer (Sign no. = 4), then the first letter will be any of the remaining letters -- that is, Ya or Ra or La or Va or Sha (first) or Sha (second) or Sa or Ha.

Choosing the number of letters in the first name :

Generally, in case of boys, the total number of letters in a name, which is preferred is normally an even figure (like Rama or Krishna which have two main letters when written in Indian languages). It is normally believed that boys having odd number of letters in their first name become more aggressive while those having even number of letters become more fortunate.

The reverse holds good in case of the girls. Generally, the total number of letters in a name, which is preferred is normally an odd figure (like Sunita or Parvati which have three letters). It is normally believed that girls having even number of letters in their first name become more aggressive while those having odd number of letters become more fortunate.

Choosing the number of words in the full name :

Generally, in case of boys, the total number of letters in a name, which is preferred is normally an odd figure (normally, three words constitute the full name). It is believed that boys having odd number of words in their full name become more aggressive while those having even number of words become more fortunate.

The reverse holds good in case of the girls. Generally, in case of girls, the total number of letters in a name, which is preferred is normally an even figure (normally, two words constitute the full name). It is believed that girls having even number of words in their full name become more aggressive while those having odd number of words become more fortunate.

Numerological considerations for choosing the name :

A person is born on any date as per English Calendar. So, the figure can be any one from 1 to 31. If the figure is a single number (from 1 to 9), then the date number is the figure itself. Else, the two digits are numerically added together till they form a single digit, which then becomes the date number. Thus, if the date is 31, then the date number is (3 + 1) = 4 and if the date is 29, then (2 + 9) yields 11 first which on addition in similar manner yields (1 + 1) = 2 which becomes the date number.

For different letters of English language, different numerological values have been assigned. The figures are numerically added till they form a single digit finally for the purpose of checking whether the figure is harmonious with the date figure. This may be termed as the name figure.

A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, D = 4, E = 5, F = 8, G = 3, H = 5, I = 1, J = 1, K = 2, L = 3, M = 4, N = 5, O = 7, P = 8, Q = 1, R = 2, S = 3, T = 4, U = 6, V = 6, W = 6, X = 5, Y = 1, Z = 7.

Thus, if the name is Kapil Dev, then the figure will be (2 + 1 + 8 + 1 + 3) = 15 or (1 + 5) = 6 for Kapil and (4 + 5 + 6) = 15 or (1 + 5) = 6 for Dev. It gives a total of (15 + 15) = 30 or (3 + 0) = 3 for the name figure.

Often the individual words of the name yields a total of two digits. If one of the words yields a total of 13 or 16, then care should be taken in choosing the other word/s of the name so that :

(1) No other word should yield a total of 13 or 16. ... and

(2) The sum total of all the words should not be 26 or 44.

Finding some significant age-periods in a person's life :

The sum of all the figures in the date-month-year (as per English Calendar) also yields another fateful number, which should also be harmonious with the name figure. Thus, if someone's date of birth is 13/ 06/ 1954., then the fateful number will be (1 + 3 + 0 + 6 + 1 + 9 + 5 + 4) = 29. ... The 29th year or a period very close to it had brought in a significant change in the person's life. The person joined a multinational company in a responsible capacity at the age of 28 y. 8 m. 9 d.

And, the native's full name yields a total figure of (16 + 15 + 13) = 44. ... It is a fateful number - as the numerical figure yields (4 + 4) = 8, where the person's Date number is 4 (1 + 3 = 4); the combination of 4 and 8 is fateful. The 44th year or a period very close to it can also bring in a significant change in the person's life. The person, who is a Plastics Polymer Technologist and had been working in industries for more than 2 decades, switched over to an entirely different field (Astrology Software Development) at the age of 44 y. 5 m. 25 d.

To the current year as per English Calendar, add age-period (already completed). The figure of the resultant sum is to be obtained numerically. If the sum is obtained in two figures and it becomes either 13 or 16, then some unfavorable happening is feared. ...

[ However, this indication should not and must not be construed as confirmatory; rather the directional influences and trends of planetary transit operating in the person's chart deserve to be carefully checked. If during the time-period any of the major planets is found to be crossing over any of the unfavorable houses (the 6th or the 8th or the 12th house from the Ascendant or the Moon), then the person will have to remain careful and cautious. ]

Thus, if a person had been born in 1954, then in 1996, competed age-period had been = 42. This 42 added to the current year yields ( 1996 + 42 ) = 2038. Upon numerical addition, it yields ( 2 + 0 + 3 + 8 ) = 13. ... There had been a major unfavorable happening during the year. One of his close relatives expired. ... The person's Ascendant is Leo, and a dire malefic planet (Saturn) in transit was in sign Pisces (the 8th house from the Ascendant) when this had happened.

Similarly, in another person's case, the person had been born in 1945, then in 1996, competed age-period had been = 51. This 51 added to the current year yields ( 1996 + 51 ) = 2047. Upon numerological addition, it yields ( 2 + 0 + 4 + 7 ) = 13. ... In this case also, there had been a major unfavorable happening during the year. In this case also, one of his close relatives expired. ... In this case also, the person's Ascendant is Leo, and a dire malefic planet (Saturn) in transit was in sign Pisces (the 8th house from the Ascendant) when this had happened.

The resultant figure when brought to a single digit if found to yield 8, then the concerned person may have to face some kind of disruption or disappointment while if the figure sums up to 3 or 6 or 5 or 2, the outcome is generally found to be favorable.

Mutually Harmonious Numbers :

1, 2, 4 and 7 are in harmony with one another. So, if the date number is 1 or 2 or 4 or 7, then the name should yield 1 or 2 or 4 or 7.

3, 6 and 9 are in harmony with one another. So, if the date number is 3 or 6 or 9, then the name should yield 3 or 6 or 9.

5 and 8 are in harmony with each other. So, if the date number is 5 or 8, then the name should yield 5 or 8.

Mutually Antagonistic numbers :

4 and 8 are mutually antagonistic numbers. So, if the date figure is either 4 or 8, then care should be taken that the name figure does not yield either 4 or 8 - since that can bring in unfavorable influences.

Symbolic significations from the name figures obtained numerically :

The symbolic significations for the figures obtained from the individual words of the name and also from the full name as obtained numerically have been given hereunder (from no.-1 to no.-22). The figure for the full name is often found to exceed 22; in such cases, 22 should be subtracted from the figure for the full name for finding it's corresponding symbolic significations. Thus, if the figure becomes 29, then to take it as ( 29 - 22 ) or 7.
