Among
all the possible events and happenings of normal adult
life, probably the matters pertaining to PROFESSION
are of far more importance in comparison – since most of
the various other aspects of life – someway or other,
directly or indirectly – are influenced by such
happenings. Although in our country quite a number of
female persons are also engaged in some profession or
other nowadays, particularly the male persons are more
seriously concerned about their professional prospects.
Unless a person is suffering from some sort of physical
infirmity or mental affliction, or is recovering from
physical illness or injury, beginning from about the
age-period of late teens to around early sixties, majority
of persons (particularly, the male persons) normally
remain actively engaged in some profession or other.
In
this work, we have covered the age-periods from 17 to 64.
Although the range has been quite arbitrarily chosen,
still it may not be considered very unreasonable that at
any age-period either below 17 or above 64, an average
person is less likely to be in a condition to remain fully
active on a regular basis. It must also be understood that
here we do not propose to deal with the horoscopes of
Kings & Queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Chief
Ministers, Generals, Governors, immensely rich
Industrialists & Business magnates, and various other
persons of celebrity status; this is since the conditions
and circumstances of their lives by far differ from those
of common people. We have concentrated more on the lives
of middle-class people (including lower-middle class and
higher-middle class), and a host of noteworthy
observations – which could be obtained from our
special-purpose predictive astrology software within
seconds – will be found to satisfy the people of such
background by and large; and, that too with a very high
degree of precision and accuracy.
It
must be reasonably understood that we have concentrated
more on ‘qualitative’ aspects, and less on
‘quantitative’ aspects. It is definitely possible to
assess the quantitative aspects if total attention is
concentrated on a particular horoscope isolatedly, but
framing a general set of rules for broad-based application
is definitely not an easy task – although it may not be
impossible. It will also be found that we have viewed the
same or similar aspects from various possible angles; this
is since it IS really within our ambit, and
one can never be successful to attain a very high degree
of accuracy and precision without viewing the same thing
from various angles.
Unlike
various so-called ‘Pundits’ (!) and self-proclaimed
‘Astrologers’ (?), our extent of knowledge and
information is definitely not restricted only upto
‘Vimshottari Dasha-Antardasha-Pratyantardasha, Planetary
Transits (mainly Shani Sade-Sati, Ashtama-Shani, Kantaka-Shani,
etc), Gaja-Keshari Yoga, Kal-Sarpa Yoga, Graha-Ratna,
Cheap remedial measures (from ‘Lal Kitab’), Var-Vadhu
Gun-Milan score, Mangalik-dosha & its cancellation,
Varshaphala, and a lot of wind’! Those innumerable
pitiable beings out there on the prowl – whose knowledge
and information do not extend even one farthing further
– will never at all be in a position to properly
comprehend what kind of uncommon nonsense they have ever
since been incessantly spitting out – by deceptively
spicing them with stale jargon, and occasionally belching
out crude fallacious arguments!
In
passing, we must briefly touch upon ‘the vexed question
of Ayanamsha’ – which makes most of the beginners and
learners pretty confused. We are not interested to explore
its theoretical basis; but we are concerned about its
utilization aspect. In this respect, it should be
understood that in fact the question is not about
ascertaining which particular value of Ayanamsha value is
correct.
Depending
on the subtle differences of the employed methodology, one
may find that one particular value of Ayanamsha (or a very
slightly modified value of it) suits him/ her most. For
general applications, Lahiri Ayanamsha may be followed –
more so when someone wishes to use the divisional charts
also. But in case of Kalachakra Dasha, a very slight
adjustment is to be made to the value of Lahiri Ayanamsha
– if one wishes to use very narrow-range periods (of 1.
67 days to 8. 75 days) as units for “timing of
events”. As K.C.D. is a very high magnification of a
very short span (3*20’ = 83 or 85 or 86 or 100 years),
Raman Ayanamsha can never work in K.C.D.
However,
these do not at all mean that Raman Ayanamsha is not
correct; it rather is a very useful and workable Ayanamsha
value. If the ‘Alternate’ method of divisions and
sub-divisions is followed (12 divisions and 12 * 8 = 96
sub-divisions of the full-duration of a Dasha), then
Raman’s Ayanamsha works perfectly in case of Vimshottari
Dasha (and Shodashottari Dasha). … So, an earnest seeker
of knowledge should not-, and must not-, arrive at any
premature and ridiculous ‘conclusion’ – which might
only be comparable to the legendary ‘blind man’s view
of the elephant’!
There
is another interesting field where Raman Ayanamsha works
perfectly. Although not in our country, some enthusiastic
persons in the western countries have long since been
unsuccessfully trying various figures as divisors for
directly converting the planetary longitudes into the
age-periods – which are likely to be significant. Those
persons had been using ‘Sayana’ longitudes of planets.
Dr Raman himself had not been very optimistic about it,
and considered such efforts as quite humorous. The fact is
that the Conversion of longitudes of planets is possible
with “Nirayana” longitudes only; and ironically, it
perfectly works only with Raman’s value of Ayanamsha.
There are at least two figures – each of which can
independently be used as divisors for obtaining
close-enough timing of events; and, not only the ‘timing
of events’, by following certain systematic procedures
the ‘nature of events’ can also be gleamed with a high
degree of precision and accuracy.
Just
after learning how to cast a horoscope on ‘Nirayana’
basis, a student invariably learns how to calculate the
balance of (Vimshottari) Dasha at birth. He/ She feels
greatly delighted by imagining that he/ she has come
across ‘the golden key’ – which will help him/ her
to become an Astrologer (meaningly, a person who can
predict events correctly) pretty soon. But that is not at
all the end of the problem – rather it actually is the
beginning of a never-ending series of problems; this is
since the more he/ she tries to learn, the more he/ she
becomes confused! There are so much of information, mis-information,
and dis-information available about Vimshottari
Dasha-system that at present it appears to be a
near-impossible task to isolate the corn from the chaff!
Yet, Vimshottari Dasha still appears to rule supreme as
the majority of people do not know how to use any other
Dasha-system at all – while there are some loud-mouthed
tall-claimers whose knowledge and information about the
other useful Dasha-systems (like Kala Chakra Dasha,
Jaimini Chara Dasha, Mandooka Dasha, etc) are thoroughly
inadequate and grossly imperfect.
Particularly
in such cases where some Conditional Dasha-systems work,
it has been found that the conclusions obtained by using
Vimshottari Dasha-system often proves to be
unsatisfactory. As per the requisite conditions, if the
‘Shodashottari’ Dasha-system is applicable to a
particular horoscope, then it would be more advisable to
use Shodashottari Dasha-system – instead of
‘Vimshottari’ Dasha-system. Shodashottari Dasha-system
might be roughly estimated to be applicable in 50% cases.
… Another point that makes the learners quite confused
is that if another Dasha-system is followed, then more
often it is found that Dasha of a different planet is
found to operate at a particular period of time. How can
then the same or similar conclusion be obtained from the
two different systems when one depends on planet ‘A’
situated in house ‘B’ and sign ‘C’, while the
other depends on planet ‘X’ situated in house ‘Y’
and sign ‘Z’?
The
reason lies somewhere else. A student of a lower class in
a school – who has learnt ‘Arithmetic’– has the
firm conviction that 2 plus 3 is ‘exactly equal to’ 5;
but when he/ she begins learning ‘Calculus’, 2 plus 3
becomes ‘very nearly equal to 5’ instead! So, a
person’s firmness of conviction is obviously a mere
‘relative’ thing with reference to time! … Actually,
it should be construed that the planets themselves
directly exert no specific influences – although they do
signify certain characteristic traits and typical trends;
the planets do not cause events and happenings – since
their significations are essentially “esoteric”. …
The positions and dispositions of the planets are actually
the useful ‘tools’ by utilizing which the competent
Astrologers look forward to deciphering the divine
intentions. Through Astrology we have only been trying to
comprehend the incomprehensible!
Astrology
is said to be ‘half science, and half art’, and
that’s the precise definition of ‘applied science’
or ‘technology’. Astrology is thus a highly
technological subject – in the truest sense of the term.
A well-qualified and experienced technologist occupying a
senior position has to bear heavy responsibilities; he/
she cannot afford to be guided by dogmatic beliefs, biased
views, or pre-conceived notions; any slight error,
mistake, oversight, or even lack of alertness may and can
cost him/ her dearly at any moment. So, he/ she must
necessarily need to keep his ears and eyes open, brain
cool, and faculties in perfect order. … Thus, it can be
understood very well what the chief requisites of an
Astrologer must essentially be. Bending a shape to fit a
concept might be the accepted practice in some fields of
fine arts – but it cannot be so in Astrology, as it is
not a branch of fine arts. By imagining something first,
and then firmly believing in the imagined thing afterwards
can never lead one to the pinnacle of success. Time and
again it has been reiterated that reason and logic are of
utmost importance to the earnest enquirer than the vaunted
learning of the academics.
Our
objective is clear, and point of view very practical; we
wish to direct our endeavors in an effective way for
producing some product – which will be able to
serve some useful purpose. Although this product
was initially been designed to meet the requirements of
the general curious people, with the abundance of
information that went on being incorporated into it, in
its present form it is expected that the students and
general learners of Astrology will find the work very
useful – as it will definitely enhance their level of
learning and understanding of the sacred subject. We
ardently look forward to receiving constructive criticisms
about the coverage, quality of contents, and mode of
representation. Any suggestion for modification(s) and/ or
additional incorporation(s) in our possible future
versions is/ are cordially welcome, and will be duly
acknowledged with gratitude and thanks. We shall consider
ourselves amply rewarded if our product can serve the
intended pupose, and satisfy the people for whom it is
actually meant.
